APHE Awards Molly the Educators Choice Award

Molly is more than an ambassador, she’s a teacher! For over six years, she has helped shape how young people understand and care for animals. Alongside Eileen, Molly visits schools and youth groups to share her rescue story and teach meaningful lessons about kindness, empathy, and responsible pet ownership.

These visits go beyond simple presentations. They create memorable, hands-on experiences that help students connect emotionally with animals and understand the role they can play in protecting them.

Recognized for impact in humane education

Molly’s work has been recognized by Association of Professional Humane Educators through the Educator’s Choice Awards, an honor that highlights individuals making a meaningful impact in humane education. This recognition reflects the importance of reaching young people early and giving them the tools to care for animals with compassion and responsibility.

What students learn during OBOL visits

Each visit is designed to be engaging, educational, and inspiring. Students learn:

  • Why kindness to animals matters
  • How to keep pets healthy and safe
  • The basics of responsible pet care
  • How small actions can make a big difference

Molly helps bring these lessons to life by demonstrating essential commands and playful tricks, capturing attention and making learning fun and memorable.

Teaching children how to care for animals does more than improve animal welfare—it builds empathy, responsibility, and community awareness.

When students understand the needs of animals, they begin to make more compassionate choices, support their families in caring for pets, and get involved in helping animals in their communities. These early experiences can shape lifelong values.

OBOL’s H.E.L.P visits are part of a broader mission to support both animals and the people who care for them. By connecting education with real-world action, OBOL helps communities become more engaged, informed, and compassionate.
