Operation Blankets of Love (OBOL) was the only animal welfare non-profit organization on the front lines of the Saddleridge Firestorm. We donated food, emergency relief items, and critical pet supplies to those forced to evacuate.
15 HRS. NON-STOP EMERGENCY RELIEF EFFORT SHELPING PETS DURING THE SADDLERIDGE FIRESTORM
- 9 PM: The Saddleridge Fires started in Sylmar and spread to Granada Hills, Porter Ranch and Chatsworth. This firestorm was less than two miles away from our home and OBOL’s headquarters.
- 11 PM: Word was out for a possible evacuation of OBOL HQ and the surrounding area. Our cars were packed just in case, however, Brad decided to pack the OBOL van with pet food and supplies for fire stricken communities.
- MIDNIGHT: OBOL received a SOS call to help evacuate a Chatsworth animal sanctuary with 150+ animals. Immediate action was taken to run out in the middle of the firestorm and get those animals out safely.
- 5 AM to 3 PM: OBOL began its vital service to the Granada Hills, Northridge and Chatsworth evacuation centers – providing pet food and supplies for the firestorm evacuees and their pets!
We worked alongside the American Red Cross during this time of need and will continue to be the primary animal welfare service provider on the front lines of natural disasters.
