OBOL Serves 100s at Venice Homeless Connect Day

Operation Blankets of Love (OBOL) was pleased to attend Venice Family Clinic’s Homeless Connect Day on August 7, 2019. Hundreds of low-income and homeless people living in the Venice area were in attendance, and OBOL was one of several service providers present to assist them.

This was the largest Homeless Connect Day turnout we have ever seen! OBOL Co-Founder and Director of Operations, Brad Smulson, single-handedly represented OBOL and assisted over 50 pet owners with free pet food, treats, collars, leashes, harnesses, bowls, waste bags, toys, blankets, towels, and other necessities for their health and safety.

Helping Struggling Pet Owners

OBOL is committed to the human/animal bond. Pets offer homeless people comfort and a sense of family during the stress of living on the streets. By obtaining free pet supplies from OBOL, struggling owners are able to properly care for their pet, which prevents them from being confiscated by an animal services authority and ending up in an overcrowded shelter. Our Pets of the Homeless Program promotes this connection and ensures that fewer animals end up in shelters with high euthanasia rates.

Many Thanks

Thank you to Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and her wonderful staff for inviting us to this event. OBOL is happy to have made this connection and operate as a new service provider for the Venice Family Clinic’s low-income and homeless patrons with pets.

Another huge thank you to Venice Family Clinic and their kind staff for being so welcoming and opening up their hearts and doors to those that need it the most. We look forward to assisting even more needy pet owners in the Venice area.
