Operation Blankets of Love (OBOL) is proud to have been working side-by-side with so many animal shelters, animal welfare organizations, veterinary groups, rescues, first responders, and of course the Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles and Ventura County during these disastrous firestorms.

OBOL on the Front Lines of Disaster Relief
The fires are almost entirely contained now, so here’s a recap of our immediate and non-stop emergency relief:
OBOL donated food, crates, pet beds, blankets, toys, bowls, and critical pet supplies to those forced to evacuate with their pets. We’ve assisted more than just dogs and cats — rabbits and tortoises were also in need of our supplies.
OBOL focuses relief efforts on evacuation centers to ensure that hundreds of community members can access immediate emergency services for their animals.
Relief Timeline
October 11th — The Saddleridge Fires in Sylmar and Granada Hills (less than two miles away from Founders Eileen and Brad Smulson’s home as well as OBOL headquarters). OBOL brought its vital service to the Granada Hills, Northridge, and Chatsworth Evacuation Centers for 15 hours straight.
October 25th — The Tick Fires in Canyon Country and Santa Clarita where several homes were in flames. OBOL set up at the Evacuation Center held at the College of the Canyons.
October 28th — The Getty Fires along the 405 Freeway. We were at the Evacuation Center at the Sherman Oaks-Van Nuys Recreation Center.
October 30th — The Easy Fires in the West Valley. We set up at the Evacuation Center in Thousand Oaks Rec Center.
